2019 VIDEO REEL

SKILLS

MOTION GRAPHICS

ANIMATIONS AND TITLES

I have been working with motion graphics for about a year now, but it’s something that I was able to pick up pretty easy and progress with. I am proficient in After Effects and it’s non-linear/layer style editing format and have been able to produce content such as animations, lower thirds, and titles. I also have experience with keyframe animation in Premiere and Animate.

POST PRODUCTION

EDITING, SOUND DESIGN, COLOR

Post production is my specialty. I love taking a film or video project and bringing it to life in a visually appealing way. I have about FIVE years experience with Premiere and use it as my primary source of linear editing. I then tweak the audio and compose music in Logic Pro X, and finally import the project to DaVinci Resolve for color correction/grading

CINEMATOGRAPHY

B-ROLL, EXPERIMENTAL, DRONE SHOTS

Cinematography is a skill that I picked up moderately late. Over the last year and a half, I have worked with different DSLR’s while understanding their mechanics; I’ve setup multiple productions that included lighting, camera angles, and audio equipment; And, I have experimented with different styles of film including, aerial shots, multi-media installations, and b-roll.

DOCUMENTARY / Feature film

A GENTRIFIED GENERATION

DESCRIPTION

A Documentary that makes a statement about the current gentrification process going on in the Tampa Area. Through this medium, I hope to spread awareness for one of the most impending factors effecting the status of the city. This documentary was part of a grant awarded to me at the beginning of the 2019 spring semester by Film Tampa Bay in which they gave me $1,000 to further help my creative process for this film. Looking back, it really allowed me to make the best possible film I could for a school project.

PROCESS

In addition to conveying a powerful message, I wanted to also take on a project that encapsulated everything I learned in my undergrad. That being, pretty much all stages of a full on production. I wrote the script, shot/directed all of the b-roll and interviews, recorded narration, animated motion graphics, composed the music, edited all of the video, and even made the website.

BARRIEHAUS BEER co.

DESCRIPTION

Promotional content I did for a startup craft brewery in Ybor. These videos were used on the website also developed by me and were apart of the “Beer Profile” marketing plan. This showed a the beer being self poured along with an extensive report of that particular beer being showcased. A big purpose of the “Beer Profiles” was to make the beers as visually appealing as possible. Aside from the recent growth in population regarding the subject, Craft beer is still a small marketplace. That’s why I found it important to utilize video to not only showcase the beer in all of its glory, but to also provide the user with information that will ultimately allow them to learn more about the overall, craft-beer world. This was part of a Student Marketing/Advertising agency run by University of Tampa. It was not only counted as course credit, but also an internship.

PROCESS

The videos were recorded in a full production setup run by the school. We setup 3-point lighting, multiple DSLR cameras, and external audio equipment. The videos were then brought into After effects where the background was cropped out while a mask tracked the animation of the beer being poured. Titles were also made in After Effects and then everything was brought into Premiere for final linear editing.

OCEAN ONE

DESCRIPTION

A promotional advertisement for my friend’s job at Ocean One. The objective was to gain more attraction to the company by emphasizing the utilization of creative underwater filming. My friend and I agreed that the relationship between the person and his/her passion with underwater life had to be strongly emphasized which is what I focused on when filming and brainstorming a creative direction.

PROCESS

The creative direction, story, and filming was done by me. The clips were then brought into After Effects where we added tracking and masks to the goggles and inverse key lighting effects to the subject. There were also glitch animations added to the logo and water at the end.
EXPERIMENTAL

WHO CARES

DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT

An experimental, personal narrative done for my Multimedia Art/Installation class during the 2018 fall semester. The assignment had us combine and utilize the power of video by filming a narrative with a narrative installation environment as our setting. I chose to focus on something that was very personal to me that I’m not too public about: My Coming Out Process. Not really the confrontation of it, but rather the last remaining months of being in the closet and what it felt like to be trapped in such a setting. That’s what I hope this video portrays well.

PROCESS

The whole class that this video was done for revolved around the utilization of projectors to create an installation environment/exhibit. For this project, I used two projectors. Initially I wanted four, but it’s near impossible for them to not overlap (and I didn’t have access to four projectors). Luckily, through the power of smart video techniques, I was able to create the illusion of there being four projectors casting video onto each wall.
For the videos, I recorded my friends talking highly negative in regards to the discovery of my sexuality. I tend to get in my own head sometimes and think things are a lot worse than they actually are. These videos do a great job of representing what was going on in my head while in the closet. I also decided to project some text based motion graphics I created in After Effects in hopes to further convey my emotions with this project. Since I was forced to be the main actor, I had my friend film. However, I was very strict on what I wanted which ultimately led to having to redo shots constantly.

PLACES DEAR TO YOU

One of the first video projects done during my undergrad. This assignment had us utilize the power of animation to create an artistic statement of our choice. Being a homesick freshman, I decided to relate it to the feeling of never forgetting on where your first home and friends are. The video is a frame by frame animation comprised of over 1500 frames and includes styles such as 'Stop Motion', 'Go-Pro Shots' and 'Rotoscoping'. All of the animation was done in Photoshop and the video was edited together using Sony Vegas/Premiere.

CINEMATOGRAPHY

DRONE SHOTS

For my latest documentary, I was really eager to film some drone shots of Tampa. I unfortunately didn't have a drone. So, I reached out to one of my classmates who had one and I directed and navigated to him exactly where I wanted the drone to be flown. The results were stunning.
